The federal government has given a fresh update ahead of the opening of the student loan application portal.
The Bola Tinubu-led Renewed Hope administration recently unveiled the student loan portal, which will open to receive applications from Nigerian students from all government-owned higher institutions on May 24, 2024.
In the latest update, the government said that only students in federal government tertiary institutions will receive immediate consideration for their loan applications.
Speaking before the portal opens for applications on Friday, he mentioned that the first phase will be open to students in federal institutions whose data has been uploaded.
He also said that the loan application process has been simplified to make it easier for eligible students at federal tertiary institutions to apply.

According to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, the loan is accessible to all students in government tertiary institutions and will be implemented in stages, beginning with federal institutions and then moving on to state institutions.
